HAF X -> Case Labs TH10 (re)Build

Hey guys. I wanted to share some pics of an amazing case I finally received from our friend Jim over at Case Labs on OCN. My fiance had a problem with the 480 rad hanging off the back of my PC and it got hit into the wall a few times. It was HER idea to upgrade my case and was okay with the idea of spending 500$+ on a case. Yeah I have to marry that damn girl. applaud.gif

I apologize in advance for crappy digital camera photos. If anyone has some tips for better pics in the future I'd appreciate it. I have a Nikon Coolpix.

The before pic (build 1.5)
080r.jpg

Part List:
as per sig
Res/pump: XSPC Res top on MCP355
TFC Xchanger 360+480
Bitspower compression fittings + rotaries
Feser UV Red tubing
13(have)+9(ordered) GT AP-15's

No huge changes were made other than the goal of having a 480+360 rad and space for more (next build). The Case Labs TH10 fit the bill despite being a HTPX case with a ton of extra room. It has a very high build quality of all aluminium with a great black powdercoat.

Case Labs TH10 vs HAF X

As you can see, the TH10 is a monster.

Front compartment:073fz.jpg

Rear compartment: (with the packing protection still on wink.gif) The hard drive cage is at the top and is removable. Also a spot for a 120mm fan on the front of it. Also space for two PSUs.
072zr.jpg

The top features an amazing amount of space for 2x480 rads. The bottom also can fit 480 rads in both sides. You can kind of see the bottom removable inserts for rads. The top has more than enough room for push+pull+thick rads. It's simply amazing compared to the amount of space in the top of the HAF X.
074wg.jpg

Phase 1: Teardown + cleaning
My res had a white coating on the inside I have a feeling was from my radiators even though I had rinsed them pretty well when I first got them. Distilled+a tooth brush inside the res fixed it all.

I bought a torx screwdriver to open up my Supreme HF. Inside was some gunk I have no idea what from. Easily removed with a toothbrush + distilled.
089w.jpg

I bought this 480 rad at Christmas, and this is how much dust it picked up in 4 months externally. eek.gif Is it time to clean YOUR rad yet?
083ve.jpg

I hadn't opened up my 480 blocks since I got them last august so I thought it was time. I also wanted to see how the TIM application was the first time around. Not bad at all. Cleaned off the TIM, reapplied, and fiddled with the annoying standoffs on the EK block.
095un.jpg

The inside of the block was actually very clean.
096fg.jpg

Phase 2: Test fitting the rebuild
I like to through my parts into the case before arranging tubing runs so I can visualize the best way to do it. I threw in the rads with the inlet/outlets towards the back of the case thinking it would be more clean looking tubing wise. I decided I need a few 90 degree rotaries to make this better, but used what I had so I could get my PC running and decide how to mean to cleaner for build 2.1 wink.gif
087sc.jpg

Removable motherboard tray. Simply awesome and very rigid. The back panel also comes off for easy access to the CPU backplate.
086kq.jpg

I mounted the bottom fans on my 480 rad and began leak testing overnight:
102ip.jpg

I decided to sleeve my two 6+2 pins for my second GPU as they weren't before. Also sleeved the 3-pin Y connectors that were terrible ugly without. MDPCx ftw.
078cc.jpg
103vp.jpg

Here are the most current pics while I wait for the rest of my fans for the front 120mm slots.
108hrs.jpg

I have a ton of cable management to do on the rear compartment, please don't judge! biggrin.gif I am not quite sure what to do with my pump+res as that rear tubing run is just massive and in the way of the PSU. I'm thinking of reversing the 360 rad so the inlet/outlet are near the front of the case for build 2.1.

And my setup on the left with my fiance's on the right in our ghetto apartment:

I appreciate all questions/comments/suggestions as I do plan on updating this thread when I get the rest of my fittings+fans. I'm also considering using black tubing instead of red as I'm not using UV lights in build 2+.

LOL yes the darkside of amazing but expensive cases. It's worth it if you don't plan on upgrading your hardware anytime soon. I'll be waiting for 2012 around Christmas to upgrade. This case will easily last my next few builds and many years.

That case is a monster. How does the top look with the cover on it. Depending on how it looks, I'd add a 4th fan on the other side just so that it can be uniform, even though there is no rad there.

Yeah, that's actually a great idea. Here's a pic I just took because you asked lol.

I think I will definitely throw another GT in there when I get the rest from NCIX. I'm still on backorder.
