Real Dhcp head scratcher - Page 2

If you cannot ping by IP it's a routing or firewall issue.
If you cannot resolve any hostnames it's a DNS issue.
If you only 'acquire' 169.254 addresses it's a DHCP issue.

Pinging their addresses aka 192.168.123.45

Ok guys thanks for you help i've come to the decision just to re-image the hard-drives with backups i took last week because we dont have the time to messaround changing the settings and tbh i love networking but im still learning and untill we do the cisco course we are gonna be noobish haha thanks rep for all that helped

As beers stated above, if you cannot ping something by IP address it appears you are having a routing issue (assuming you didn't change anything on the firewall while it was working).

No havent touched a setting was in lessons most of the day the only thing that has been changed is a few student passwords but i doubt that will do anything

Go on server 192.168.123.2 and try to ping the following IP addresses: 192.168.123.3, 192.168.123.1, 10.31.1.1, 192.168.123.17, and 192.168.123.16. Let me know which one works and which does not.

Ok wont be able to do it untill tommorrow morning as im home now will let you know about 8:30 am (uk time)
