Sapphire HD 6990

Thread Starter
What does that dual BIOS switch do exactly?

I found some stuff that say it unlocks the 6990 to full potential of it's dual GPU (2x 6970) with higher voltage and faster clock speed

while others say it only raises clock speed, it does not make the 6990 into 2x 6970

anyone got a legit answer?

It puts it at 6970 stock clock speeds with higher voltage - 6990 is already two 6970's, just slightly down clocked for power consumption reasons

So the 6990 becomes 2x 6970 except only 1 pcb board ... so it's already on cf?

No, the 6990 is already 2x 6970's, just with lower clock speeds. When you flick the switch it puts them at regular non down clocked speeds and raises the voltage.

Also removes bios write protection and powertune limits.

Yeah I meant the 6990 is physically 2x 6970 but performance wise it is downclocked. But once you hit the siwtch, it becomes 2x 6970 performance-wise as well?
