I bought a dremel for $20 from Fry's and it has worked just fine for me so far.

I have a Dremel 4000 and Dremel Trio. I really like the Dremel 4000 but I've used the 300 as well and I think it would suffice as long as you have the right attachments and bits.

I also recommend the Dremel 300, I picked mine up at Home Depot for $65 bucks and also got the 11 piece cut-off wheel kit for $20. Next item will be the flex-shaft. I almost got the 4000 but I couldn't see spending that much for something I hardly use.
