[Gamefront] Wal-Mart Teams With iBUYPOWER to Offer Custom Gaming PCs - Page 16

I hope this works well!

Although I do remember that Futureshop had the same deal with eMachine and that did not go very far.

I'm hoping it will succeed since it will help all PC gamers out in the long run.

LOL, this will end up working very well for both wal-mart and ibuypower. They are not Futureshop and emachine. not even in the same catagory. Wait till black friday and walmart will have some killer pre-builts selling really, really cheap.

Jesus people, stop being so damn negative. Sure they're pre-built PC's, but for people who have no interest in building their own PC or don't want to run the risk of breaking something in the process, this is a good thing.

You like building your own PC. Whatever, that's fine. But I know plenty of people who would love to start PC gaming, but don't want to deal with building their own or picking each part individually. They'd rather just buy it and play. You're called PC elitists for a reason; because you don't make up majority of the population that do the same thing.

i am all for it.
now i can get people to stop bugging me to build them a "cost system". (i get paid nothing)
i only charge $50-100 to do all the research, on the budget they give me, order the parts, build, install the OS, drivers, test and tweak and then set up-it takes some time to build a system, so if Walmart can pump these out and save money for people-go for it.
now i can send them to a good deal on a prebuilt system.

plus the more people we got gaming, the better-maybe.

ha.... good move for both companies but imagine the reps at the stores trying to sell these and answer questions the customer might ask.

just did a rough comparison using newegg. the Walmart rig only had about a $200 premium on it over my newegg build (using more or less the same parts, i couldnt figure the exact brand for the memory, vid card, or PSU, so i just averaged the price of low-mid end equipment
