Sales Associate Recommended me this PSU...

Thread Starter
Well i previously posted on what PSU to get and i ended up going to the tigerdirect store and seeing NONE of them there! I originally wanted a XFX 650W but im going to buy it at the store location instead, which as far as i know, did not have anything great. The sales associate said the Corsair is the best in the $100 range.

So.. first he gave me the thermaltake 750w, but then afterwards i told him im overclocking my setup and he told me hands down, corsair is the best!

SO i bought the Corsair TX650w @ $99.99
I don't want to unbox this thing just yet incase its not worth the money.

i get home and im reading it has poor ripple suppression? What does that mean?
I stopped by my local computer store and found Antec units for $70 w/rebate (650W which is overkill for what i need but no 520W in stock) AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE + GTX460

http://canadacomputers.com/product_i...item_id=021533 -antec TP650w

http://canadacomputers.com/product_i...item_id=036320 -Antec EA-650w GREEN earthwatts

CanadaComputers also has OCZ, Enermax, Thermaltake and cooler master under "gaming PSU" - http://canadacomputers.com/index.php...ort=3a&&page=1

As far as i know, overclock forums likes Antec. What should i go with?

The Antec TP-650 is a significant step up from the TX650. Antec is trimming its PSU line-up, and though there's been no official word I suspect the TPN series is headed for the axe, which would explain the ultra-low pricing as of late.

Anyway, return the TX650 and get the TP-650.

The TPN is a competitor for the Corsair HX range, and it does it very well indeed, winning on many tests, and it's usually cheaper too!
The TX650 is a good PSU, but it's not the best.

Uninformed associate that you dealt with but that's not really a surprise..they do their best I guess?

The XFX and the TPN both perform better than the TX650 and are both partially modular.

Just get the Antec unit..it's aggressively priced and it's good.
