8-pin psu on 4-pin mobo

Thread Starter
i got a new gigabyte h55 mobo and am currently using an x650 psu. The cpu power will not sit securely into the mobo's socket, since it is 4+4 pin. Will this be an issue? it'll go into the socket, but can easily come out

any loose connections when it comes to power can be a huge issue.

Is something broke? The clip on the power wire or the clip holder on the motherboard?

kk im gonna see where i can get a cpu power extension (so i can turn the 8-pin to 4+4)

its not a 4+4 cpu cable, just an 8-pin so the lock is in the middle of the 8 pins
post #6 of 11
it doesn't lock?

What you need to do is use the middle 4 pins on the 8 pin EPS.

Aaaah, gotcha.

the lock IS NOT broken. if I put half the cable onto the mobo connector, the lock will not touch the connector.

The psu and cable work perfectly fine on my 8-pin evga atx mobo
