Asus P8P67 EVO - Wrong MHZ

Thread Starter
I had set the memory speed at 1600MHz - as well as the timings on the back of the card that came with the memory: 9-9-9-24 1.5v.

Checking my memory speed in CPU-Z, the first two sticks are running at 800 MHZ while the second two are running at 677 MHZ. While running a stress test, the speed doesn't change. Also they are different sets of ram (8GB = 2x4GB - F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL and 8GB = 2xGB - F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL) for a total of 16 gigs of ram.

Oddly in CPU-Z the second slot shows PC3-12800H (800 MHz) and the third slot shows PC3-10700 (677MHz). In both sets it shows SPD Ext.: XMP.

What is going on?

sounds like you are reading the SPD tab in CPUZ, check the memory tab instead?

EDIT: I should probably say why too.. the SPD tab just lists the profiles/speeds your ram is rated at/can run at, the memory tab shows your actual speeds and timings

Well 677MHz isn't listed in the SPD tab; memory lists it at 842.2MHz but in AI Suite II, it shows two different speeds for both sets of ram.

Btw don't use ai suite. It's terrible as a tool, especially when overclocking. Can really screw things up

ok dude i gotta say this but DDR1600= Double Data Rate, so a true 800mhz speed =1600MHZ DDR.

667=1333. Under memory tab your memory should all be working at the same speed. I didn't know it was possible to clock different sticks at different speeds at teh same time! I gotta have this feature!
