e6600 vs 560 Ti

Thread Starter
I bought a new GPU a couple of weeks ago (when I was having what turned out to be a RAM issue) but like the new card so well I will keep it. My question is, will my e6600 @ 3.2g bottleneck my 560 Ti? I can run the CPU @ 3.4 if that is preferable, but hate to run the higher volts/temps with summer coming on.

The 560 defaults to 835//1670/2000 but I run it at 950/1900/2300 much of the time. Is this oc wasted considering the limits of my e6600?

Thanks in advance.

Yes it will bottleneck it. How much I don't know. If possible I would look into finding a used Q9550 for an upgrade

put the cpu at stock, test game fps. overclock cpu and compare the two. then compare it to reviewers fps results

you will be bottlenecked on games like bad company 2 as it can make use of a quad, but I think you should be ok for a while

It would help if you explained what you just posted as from what I can tell that has nothing to do with CPU bottleneck

Depends on the games you play.

Generally, no. A game that really needs a quad (like BC2) will suffer.

Thank you all for your replies.

I'm playing older games right now (CoD4 & Total War Kingdoms), so it sounds like I'm not in any real trouble. My frames are excellent and my game options are all maxed out, so......looks great! Guess I'll stick with what I have for now.

Thx again.

BTW - what about the oc? Wasted?

No it wont be a bottleneck even at 3.0 ghz unless you play games that require quad core like GTA IV and Bad company 2
