I'm not sure which one to go with. Like I said I have zero knowledge of AMD products.

About to pull the trigger, anyone else have any opinions?

Not really... for everyday family computing and usage that'll do well... The only addition I can think of is maybe get them some low end sub 100 or sub 70 dollar videocard for windows Aero and anything they may use (ie games, maybe? low end ones, that is)

I insist athlon x4 is enough, you can keep that board, since it's not too pricey. Also, this case is better looking and cheaper

8GM of RAM? Why? If you cannot give a specific application off the top of your head, then it is too much. 4GB is fine for most.
Once again...

Like this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...707&CatId=3670? Let someone reinforce this idea. Not sure it is the best budget card. Seeing a computer without a videocard makes my heart sink for some reason.

Yep, that would totally work - or if you wanted to get fancy with them, find a low-budge card that has HDMI... Hometheatre anyone?

But yeah that would surely do the trick. Infact, on the machine I'm using right now (not my sig rig, it's at work right now) is using a brand new 9500gt and the thing has been great. I'm running windows 7 and the whole she-bang. I'm even playing some older games on it just fine with maxing out settings, so a 9800gt would be perfect as well.

Edit: Addition: Hope that's reinforcement enough!

Although, for 10 dollars more...
