Overclocking FSB - Asrock p45de

Hi,
i own a asrock p45de motherboard and 2x2gb corsair ddr2 xms2 800 mhz.
some days ago i found out that my FSB/RAM-ratio is 10:12
(FSB is 333 mhz and my ram runs at 400 mhz)

my cpu is a core 2 duo e8400

so my question is:
would it be a good idea to overclock my fsb to 400 (cpu multiplicator at 7.5 so that i still have 3000 mhz). the fsb/ram-ratio would be 1:1.

or this this just useless?

question number 2:
how do i have to configure it in the bios, because setting fsb to 400 and the multiplicator to 7.5 leads to a nonbootable configuration biggrin.gif

i guess i have to configure the ram somewhere, because i heard that overclocking the fsb overclocks the ram automatically, too. what about the voltages?

so is this a good idea and if yes can somebody explain me in detail which options i have to change?

i know how to work with the bios, but i haven't overclocked my pcs in the past smile.gif)

Changing your fsb will change your ram speed so it will still be in a 10:12 ratio. Ideally 1:1 is the best and 10:12 is pretty close to 1:1. Its not worth it really since you would see no difference at all. Also some processors wont run overclocked with dropped multipliers also you would need to increase the vcore about 0.05v to run at 7.5x400. Id leave your core at 8.5 and overclock it to 400 fsb and increase the vcore to 1.325v and enjoy the slight added speed.

hmm, okay thx.
so i guess i wont change it, if it doesnt make a difference. i dont want to overclock the cpu.
btw the multiplicator is at the moment at 9 (333x9 = 2997 mhz)

the reason behind this oc-attemp is, that my pc is a bit slower than it should be.
i already bought a new cpu (e8400) graphic card (gtx 560 ti) and now a mainboard(p45de). it was getting better with every hardware, but the problem is still there. for example i get little lags while scrolling with my browser opera sometimes.
while playing i can feel fps drops if there are many projectiles flying around (for example in heroes of newerth). badly programmed browser games start lagging sometimes.

i already tested the ram with the windows 7 memory test, so i have no idea why i have this performance problems.

(my drivers of every hardware are updated)
