Gta iv

Thread Starter
I have a gtx 560ti OC'ed to 975mhz and its GPU usage is 20-30 while playing GTA IV. Is my 1090t bottlenecking the game? Cpu is clock is stock 3200 megahertz with turbo disabled. CPU-NB is 2600 megahertz.

No, it will not bottleneck the game. My max cpu usage playing GTA4 was 52%. Video Card mem usage was 100% though. Thats with a 5870 too.

GTA IV is CPU intensive to the MAXXXX, overclock that bad boy to at least 3.6

GTA IV is very processor reliant because it was ported from consoles. So yes, your CPU is probably bottle necking it.

Make sure you have the latest update (1.0.7 I believe?), it really improves the performance of the game. Also, how much RAM do you have?

I would consider overclocking your processor and adding more RAM if you have under 4 gigs.

I just ran my 1090T on stock 3200mhz, got 51% usage and 100 video memory usage, you are not close to being bottlenecked by cpu.
there certanly something wrong there. probably not your CPU since GTA 4 will use at least 4 of your cores...

check your CPU usage to be sure...... just hit ctrol+alt+del

anyways, if the CPU usage is high, doesn't mean you have a hardware problem (in this case a bottleneck)
you are suffering from a software issue... maybe drivers... or there is another application running on the background sucking your processing power... etc, etc....
it's not your hardware, that is for sure

what are your game settings? if your resolution is too low, that could be the issue... the lower the resolution the more cpu and the less gpu it will use (doesn't seem to be the case, since you've got a 23inch monitor)

btw... gta 4 is just an awfuly coded game (actually a crapy console port.)

well I had a bad experience OC'ing my 1090t and had to RMA both my motherboard and CPU. I just got my replacement today and have been reluctant to OC it. I think a VRM popped and took the CPU with it. My video card has 1gb ram . my system has 4 GB ram.

ignore the users above mentoning it's a problem related to your CPU hardware....

not everybody here on OCN reads before posting.. nowadays, that is...

typically GTA IV benefits from more cores and a faster CPU.

you need to crank up your OC there, if you find the default settings not to your liking, bear in mind the game doesn't run too well though, so
