Gta iv - Page 4

If you are dipping into the 30 fps mark as a low then you are great! All games will give you a dip. Its your avg fps that really matters. And as long as you arent crawling along in the teens in fps as a low.

GTA IV is a CPU and memory whore. You need 16GB of RAM, 4 GTX 580s, and a 16-core Xeon to max it out. /true story

Seriously though, my secondary rig has a Phenom II 940 BE @3.7GHz, and I get around 30fps with everything maxed out @ 1920x1080 on my GTX 470. After I switched to the 2500K, I get 10fps higher in the game now, to an average of 40fps. The Phenom II is bottlenecking your card, as mine did. Again, it's an extremely CPU intensive game.

One GB of VRAM is not enough to max GTA IV. You need at least 1.5

LMAO well I suppose I should be happy with what I have. I was playing it with a 8600gt all setting on minimum.... it was not very enjoyable to play with that 8600gt.... I guess 30fps as a low is good it prolly wouldn't bother me as much if I just turned off msi afterburner's OSD....

I set everything maxed except view distance. I brought the view distance setting up up as high as I could with out going over. regardless MSI afterburner never shows my VRAM usage going over 850

"Nowadays"? You've been a member for just over a year.

Anyway, you shouldn't be bottlenecked. What kind of performance are you seeing?
