Sigh, would be nice if people could read...
Yeah we can't read, so we're helping him with some bios adjustments. He could do 4.8 with asus, he just needs to find the sweet spot with this asrock. Coz saying the asrock board sucks at oc isn't true.

LOL

I`m on an asrock p67 ex 6 since the very first minute,so i need no advise .

5 ghz on 5 clicks

all to obvious that op used a wrong LLC setting..

and yes,it is possible that he will not see the 5 ghz stable.

that`s why i wrote on decent chip and cooling.

You can check my 24/7 settings for a modest 4.6ghz

^Those are from the UEFI. Maybe you can built yours from my samples. I know your chip is different but this may help you out. Also if you haven't done so, update your mobo's bios to the latest version, P1.80
Thanks for the settings and great OC man, I noticed that that 2500k's reach higher clocks way easier than the 2600k.

I got decent cooling and I believed a decent chip, because it overclock well on other boards.

-My first board was the the MSI-GD55, achieved a great OC of 4.8 at around 1.48v, but the board was having problems BSODing at Idle due to a common Issues with the BIOS not regulating voltage well enough.

-My second board was the Asus P8P67 Deluxe....I loved that one, because it was too easy to OC [same 4.8], and stable as a rock. but It wont boot up due to an problem many call "cold-boot issue"

I know fairly enough about OCing SB [well the basics anyways]. This is the first time I actually had to go change more than 3 settings to get to at least 4.5Ghz, Seeing how Im in the 1.45v+ area just to reach 4.5 stable I highly doubt Ill be seeing 5.0GHz.

Now to the OC:

I finally reached a decent stable setting of 4.5Ghz at 1.45. with a lvl3 LLC, even though I saw the the voltage drop to 1.436 at load. Now im going to raise the Ghz and shoot for 4.8 again,

EDIT:
Now anything above 4.6 will just give me a blinking cursor, e.g OS wont even bother to load, I tried uping the voltage to a staggering 1.48 and nothing. Im getting frustrated here how I cant reach my desired speed even though I was able to do so before using other MB's.

-I also noticed that there are really no Asrock OC guide in any forum to use as template ><

EDIT2:
Just for the heck of it I tried the highest possible voltage setting I used back when I OCed my chip to 5.1Ghz which is 1.520v

......

My system wouldn't even Boot at that voltage running at 4.6Ghz.....I dont think is the Vcore anymore, something else has to be messing up because this is just HORRIBLE.

EDIT3:
Well once my 4.6 failed I went back to 4.5 at 1.48 but the OS wont load, I had to lower the voltage back to 1.450 to get windows going back again. I have tried many different voltage configurations for 4.6 both high and low voltages. Nothing seem to break this 4.6 barrier.

-I just cant figure out whats causing this 4.6 wall

Strange. I booted at 48x on my ASRock Extreme4 and the voltage was in the 1.35-1.37x area. I doubt it was Prime-stable for 24hrs at that voltage but it still loaded Windows just fine. I run my 24/7 OC at much lower voltage since the day-to-day benefit of 48x vs 43x is hard to notice with my usage patterns. I also use Offset voltage which allows one to benefit from the throttling down to 0.90V under idle situations. No need to pump max voltage through the chip when its loafing along.

@op, you probably have a bad 2600k, it happens. If you can sell it, do so and buy another one.

BIOS looks exactly the same as my ASRock Extreme 4 (I guess this is to be expected). Except for the ghey picture of that dude.........

On a serious note - I am surprised that at offset .015 your voltage is 1.16 as shows in the BIOS. What do you run under load at 46X?

I also note that you disabled spread spectrum? Do you get the double boot on startup? (ie it starts for a sec, then shuts down, then starts again). On my Extreme4 this happens if I turn off SS, which I would like to do to get an even 100.0 on CPU-Z rather than 99.8.

How can this be a defective chip if it overlocked well under the two other boards? I mean, its not the best one but its pretty good. This is the first time I had a OC problem with it.
