epic.......yes I guess that would be one word.....not the word I was thinking of but sure......

what about my question re: doublebooting because you disabled Spread Spectrum? Does that happen to you? Or do you have a BIOS that doesn't do that?

-Well as of now the 4.6 wall still stands and its pretty tough to get trough it, I think I should start Messing with the rest of the voltages, any ideas how much should I raise the following?

CPU LLC: LvL2
DRAM: 1.6v [1.5 native]
PCH: Auto [1.059]
CPU PLL: Auto [1.832]
VTT: Auto [1.051]
VCCSA: Auto [0.925]

EDIT:

Yeah that guy's face is not helping one bit either, I thought I only had to see it once but now that im messing with the bios for such a long time, its becoming irritating.

The poster I was quoting was giving him settings for 5 ghz. Not 4.8 ghz.
If you read *MY* post, I was giving him settings for 4.5 ghz, to get his voltages back down to sane levels, as I prefer to walk before I run. Since he said he was having problems passing 4.4 ghz...

Nothing more than simple logic...

This video seems to perpetuate some untruths. Like "you have to Disable all the C1E states etc before you can overclock" and you "need to enable LLC at least 1 or 2". I wouldn't follow this guy's advice as gospel by any means......

@hogan, it doesn't double boot in my end at 4.6 ghz. Even when i was benching last night @ 5.3 it didn't do that. Are u using the latest bios?

@warup, u may have to go back to 1.5v vram coz it doesn't do anything if you're running just at stock ram speed.

WOAH! this actually helped a lot! I was actually able to boot and test at 5GHZ!!! The guy in the video has almost the same set up as me and clarified a couple of settings that were special to this MB alone.

Right now I'm stress testing at 4.9Ghz, and everything is going well, although I get a little unstable at times but thats just due to voltage calibration that I can easily iron out.

He pretty much said:

"set the following...[@ CPU config]"
This settings are not recommended to be disabled IMO, they are only to improve stability and commonly used on temporary extreme OC, not daily use
C1E: Disabled
C3 State: Disabled
C6 State: Disabled
Package C state Support: Disabled
CPU thermal Throttling: Disabled <-This Kinda scares me to disable, even though he said other wise

"set the following...[@ OC Tweaker]"

CPU ratio: Manual -> 50
Internal PLL OverVltg -> Enable
Intel Speedstep -> Enable
Turbo Boost power limit: Manual
->Short Duration power Limit [w]: 180
->Long Duration Power Limit [w]: 140
->Long Duration Power Limit [sec.]: 1
Additional Turbo voltage: Auto
Core Current Limit: 150
BCLK: 100
Spread Specrum: Disabled

DRAM config: All auto except for XMP <-he said to actually lower the speed from its native 1600 to 1333

=-voltage-=

Power Saving: Off
Core Vltg: 1.520 <- seems about right for a 5Ghz from my experience.
CPU LLC: lvl 2 <- this is a very crucial setting: lvl2 is recommended as it keeps the voltage synced, lvl1 will over volt
DRAM: 1.6v <-I changed this myself, because I know this RAM needs more than its native voltage, specially while running x4 sticks
PCH: Auto [1.059]
CPU PLL: 1.709 <- he said to actually lower this from default to save prevent heat, this is a first
VTT: Auto [1.051]
VCCSA: Auto [0.925]

-Well so far everything seems great, I think the culprit were either the LLC, Turboost voltage settings, or CPU PLL voltage. Nonetheless the 4.6 wall was broken! now Im just trying to find the stable sweet spot and keep my CPU running at my good old 4.8Ghz speed.
