For me this device is perfect. I don't have a laptop, just a desktop. So now I can buy the transformer and have both a tablet and a netbook in one device. Why is this so hard to understand?
So why would you ever use it without the dock? Why wouldn't you just buy a netcbook/laptop instead?

The portability argument is complete BS, a few ounces of weight makes absolutely no difference unless you're having to hold the entire device. Why would you want to have to hold the entire device? I suppose you could just set it down and screw your neck up just to look at it.

The only advantage a tablet could possibly have is that its slightly easier to use while walking. Who the heck is going to be staring at a screen while walking???

I think it boils down to the fact that the iPad was a huge success because of apple's marketing, and now all of a sudden people have forgotten that the tablet format doesn't make any sense on anything larger then a phone.

Seriously, someone please explain to me a single circumstance (outside of walking while using the device) where a tablet is a better choice over laptop/netbook.

I mean come on people, the reason this tablet is good is because it has a keyboard you can use with it! Why not just buy a fricken netbook???

My laptop weighs about eight pounds and I needed it for compiling kernels, graphics or anything else I have to do computer science related. However, the batter lasts all of two hours, even when browsing the internet.

Why in the hell would I want to lug an over sized laptop around on vacation when I could do my reading on the beach with a tablet, in between my many sexual encounters with wild jungle women?

No, you're ignoring some key points here... The portability is not BS, the post above ^^ provided a solid example. There are many times when it's more convenient to use the tablet only, for example, ever try using a laptop/netbook when lying in bed/couch? It is extremely awkward and hard to type/browse when lying down. Having the laptop on your stomach, you feel all the heat from the laptop's gpu, cpu etc. which also isn't comfortable...

And again... the battery life of netbooks/laptops is not great either. Windows eats up a lot more battery life than iOS or Honeycomb.

If I wanted a netbook, I would get one. Tablets also come out of their sleep state instantly.

Comparing a tablet to a 8 pound laptop with a 2 hour battery life is down right stupid.

Also, as someone with a severe myofascial pain syndrome I can tell you as a matter of fact that a netbook requires substantially less strength to use in bed, making it much, much more comfortable to use. After all you don't have to hold your netbook up just to use it.

Anyone know where to get the 16gb for retail price? Asus is starting to piss me off with their paper launch.

How am I trying to insult you? I'm saying, if you've ever actually used one, you'd understand the advantages of it over a netbook.
