Problem with my new 955 :(

Thread Starter
So I upgraded the cpu in my board from a Athlon 7750 am2+ to a Phenom II x4 955 am3. When i put the 955 in, I booted it and it only clocked at 800 mhz. Is this common?

I just cleared the cmos and reformatted my disk and installed win 7 64bit. It still shows as running as 800mhz.

any suggestions? Anything in the bios i should check?

thanks

my board is a tf 8200 am2 btw..

disable cool and quiet

also probably want to update the bios

but yes I think this is quite common if cool and quiet is enabled

New motherboard time is my guess, without doing any research at all.

Yeah, you will want to try turning off cool an quiet in the bios if that fails get the latest bios for your board.

My 1055T did this in a motherboard that didn't officially support it at launch. Updating the BIOS solved it. You may also want to tinker with disabling power-saving features like Cool and Quiet.

Make sure power options are reset to defaults in Windows. Run Prime95. If it is still 800 MHz, you may need a BIOS update.
