i7930 OC starting point, batch # ???

post #1 of 4

I am about to overclock for the first time and read that sometime you can jump to a speed before you fine tune the OC. Furthermore I read that this number to start at could be figured out with the batch number of the cpu. How do I find the batch number, and do you know a site that lists the stats for the batch number so I can figure out where to begin the fine tuning of the OC process?

its found on the box..FPO batch number..and those 930's seem to be hard to tame chips..a good starting point is around 3.4-3.6ghz overclock..well what cooling do you have on that 930??

not sure about the batch number performing well on OCing but..with that cooling you can decently clock that thing with 3.6ghz..

try these..
bclock = 166
multiplier = 21
memory multiplier = set it to 8 (set it DDR3 1333)
memory timings = set it to 9-9-9-24 1T
vcore = stock(auto)
vdimm = auto
VTT = auto
EIST = off/disabled
C1e = off disabled
any power saving feature or green power = off/disabled

then test for stability..after getting good results try to fine tune each setting..especially voltages..
