Intel 510 Series 120GB won't go SATA III ???

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

Take a look at my spec (in my sig), I have an Inteil 510 series 120GB SSD which is SATA III Compatible. I even SWITCHED the sata controllers between my 1TB 7200RPM HDD which is recognized as 6Gb/s, but my SSD is still detected in my BIOS as 3GB/s... I'd like to get the full power out of it and go 6Gb/s, but I have no idea on how to proceed.

Thanks for future help!

I assume you have AHCI enabled on your controller right. Try doing a BIOS update as well.

AHCI is enabled, I'll try updating my BIOS right now. Thanks for the quick answer!

It's ok,

I had problems with my board not seeing my C300. I ended up doing a BIOS update and that resolved it

Hmmm did nothing. I'll look if there's any firmware update for my SSD...

As unlikely as this is, what Cable are you using? Was there a cable provided with the drive for SATAIII and yes, I know this shouldn't affect it.

I'm using the SATA III cable that came with it. And as mentionned in the first post, I tried switching cables with my 1TB WD at 7200RPM which is recognized as SATA III, butit didn'T do anything ( Even the WD was still SATA III with the SSD's cable).

I tried running the firmware update tool. It keeps telling me that it doesn't find any Intel SSD on my machine. I verified that my hard drives were on AHCI before running it and done it again, same result.
