Is fluctuating clock normal?

Thread Starter
I recently just purchased a brand new MSI GTX 570: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-552-_-Product

in GPU-Z on the Sensors tab, I see my clocks fluctuating

The red bar on the right where its high indicates it is at 732 Core Clock, where it is low, indicates 405 Core clock.

Likewise 950 Memory clock and 162 Memory Clock
1464 Memory Clock and 810 Memory Clock

Is it normal to fluctuate up and down? I thought it's suppose to stay the same value always unless you overclock or underclock it.

Yes, it depends on the GPU usage.

I would download furmark and run that, you should see a constant clock at that point.

Its a power saving feature, it will jump back up to default clocks when the GPU gets a little load. Perfectly normal.

OMG IT WILL BLOW UP!!

Well not really. Its fine. At total idle it will also go down to 51hz.
No reason for concern.

Thanks for the help guys, never new graphics cards come with power saving features depending on load.

My old EVGA GTX 460 768mb always stayed at the same clock regardless, that's why I thought it was weird.

Anyway thanks a bunch everyone!
