Want to OC... guidance needed

Ok here's the skinny. I haven't overclocked a processor in probably 8 or 9 years. I'm just now returning back to the PC scene after a long hiatus (don't ask, it involved a company from Cupertino, CA and something called linux that caused the absence)

My specs are listed in my sig, and I've been waiting for the arctic silver to fully cure before I start messing with anything. My temps on idle right now range from about 15-25 C. I just don't know where to start really, and I understand that I have to take baby steps before I can walk. My mobo included a utility to more or less automate the process for me, but I don't feel like I'd learn anything, unless this is the way of doing this now? Back in the day I had to boot and enter the BIOS, adjust my settings, cross my fingers and hopefully the OS would boot.

So where to start? Any good guides or utilities I can download?

harmor beat me here but did recommend the best thread I've seen to get you started. Take your time and learn about your setup. If I can be of any assistance feel free to PM me. I do have a Crosshair IV Formula bios setup sheet I've been working on if you feel it might be of some help let me know and I'd be happy to share it with you. I find a lot of new comers to the Crosshair IV get a little over whelmed when they're starting out due to the difference in the bios compared to most other mobo's.

You might also consider taking a look at the the link in my sig and come join us in the Asus Crosshair IV Formula/Extreme Club. Feel free to add yourself to the "Members List" and just below the spread sheets you'll find several useful links that might also help you.

Good luck and have fun!
