There are a hundred and one dohickeys to color correct your photos in post. Most are too fragile for my taste. I do happen to like the spyder cube, it's brain dead simple, pretty good results, tiny, and you can get it wet!

As stated earlier, it's all of a matter of taste. What I might think is perfect you might find boring. It's nice to begin with an accurate starting point as possible before you go all Nike ad on something though.
