As others have pointed out, this simply isn't true.

My 5870's temps would rise and my fan speed would increase whenever it got stuck on 99%.

I would actually know when it was at 99% just by hearing the increased fan noise.

Well, the problems have started for me (surprise, surprise) and it looks like I will be forced to go back to an older version of Catalyst.

I've owned my 5870 for a little over a year, and while I love the card itself, the driver support has been a total joke.

If things don't improve by the time I'm ready to upgrade my GPU, it looks like I will be switching brands.

When I pay $450 for something, I expect it to work as intended.

Currently, i have a Powercolor PCS+ 5850 ... no problems what so ever with any of the drivers ... so my guess is that, 90-95% of the problems are:

a) Conflicts with existing drivers
b) User doesn't do a fresh driver install
c) Crippled OS
d) hardware?

I mean... it's plain weird ... i had a nvidia, then i installed the 5850 ... even without any clean install of the OS ... no problems what so ever ...

Do these problems occur when you do a OS fresh install ?
Usually when i have problems i try to install the minimum number of apps/drivers... do all windows updates ... and only then start installing drivers and see where i get problems...

I have had my 5870 for a few months now with absolutely no issues with drivers... 11.2, 11.3, 11.4 preview, as well as the 11.4 official release have all run perfectly on my machine. I suggest running Driver Sweeper in safe mode, clean your registry, then re-install the latest drivers. More often than not driver issues are a result of improperly removed previous drivers.

Trust me, I have tried many different things to get my system to work as it should 100% of the time, but it is clear at this point that the drivers are simply not up to the job.

I have a somewhat complex setup (HTPC) and while I have several issues that I've been dealing with, it is the sporadic (but frequent) loss of HDMI audio that is the main source of my frustration.

I suspect that a lot of the people with zero problems are not running complicated setups, and simply never run into them.

Tried installing it last night to my CF 6850s. BSOD'd hard and made me crap my pants. I'm not sure if it was the actual driver install or me being dumb. I'll try again later tonight. Hoping it goes well this time.

^ Yes ^
Gurus' new 11.4 driver-CCC works fine for me. Stopped the 99% usage problem and although runs great I don't see any performance increase using it, as that is usually Gurus' reason for modding these AMD drivers. I guess this time he just concentrated on stopping the 99% usage problem and not the performance increase.

Hope so, because it´s very annoy.

But doesn´t this only happens in Crossfire, , you run only a single card.
No no no no, this was not just a crossfire thing. Many people with single cards have had same problem.

About 12 hours in and no problem yet with 11.4.
