Well back on topic

They haven´t fix the high GPU clock speed issue when exit games but they have fixed the FF hardware issue though

Source, AMD Catalystâ„¢ 11.4 Release Notes
•High GPU clock speeds may be retained after exiting a 3D application.

Ahhhh, I didn't see that. I think I'll stay with Gurus' new driver.

Look through the HTPC forums. I remember reading through some posts in there (not sure which it was or I'd link it for ya) where someone was having the same problem with HDMI sound through a receiver. It ended up having something to do with the receiver/tv.

Running a 5850, drivers are stable so far for me. In fact, I've had a performance increase in Crysis. : D

Thanks for the suggestion, Blazed 1, but I have already researched that and have eliminated the receiver as the cause.

Getting the sound back is actually a 30 second process for me, except when Catalyst decides to not open and/or ignore my commands.

That is what angered me enough to post yesterday (CCC would not open for me, forcing me to reboot while in the middle of a project).
It's frustrating enough when I have to constantly fiddle around to keep things running, but when I lose the ability to actually "fiddle around" and fix things it's just like "that's it, I give up".

Older versions of Catalyst did not give me these kinds of audio issues (but did give me a few others) so it looks like I will be forced to go back to one of them (and lose the performance gains of the newer versions ).
