Roccat Kave Analog to Coax

Thread Starter
Greetings !
So I want to buy a pair of Roccat Kave in order to use it with my Asus G60 laptop.
But i have one problem:
The headphones use 2 jackes for audio and 1 for mic. The problem is that my laptop's soundcard ( from creative ) has only 1 slot for a normal jack for audio and 1 for the mic. The 3rd slot that appears on the side of the laptop is not working, and after looking carefully at it, i realized it's a s/pdif slot. So basically in order for my laptop's soundcard 4.1 to work at a 4.1 level, i would need to use a device which connects via a COAXIAL cable, am i right?
If so, how can i connect a pair of Roccat Kave headphones since they use normal 3.5 jacks, to a coaxial connection?

Thanks in advance !

For yours, it might either be an Optical or Coaxial output. I would suggest looking for a DAC that converts a digital signal to analog as your sound card, instead of using the laptop audio. DACs work by converting usb signal or optical signal to an audio signal that you can connect a mic or headphones to. If it is an optical output, all you would really need is a DAC with optical input and it will work.

in short, if your optical is an output, all you need is a DAC with optical input, or if it is an input, just buy a USB DAC to use as your main audio source

Hey flash, the Roccat Kave has four audio cables to plug in, Front L/R, Rear L/R, Subwoofer, and Mic. Also has a USB connector for the volume control/equalizer device called "Tip'n Control".

You will need an external sound card that is USB powered to use the headphones adequately. Creative has one external Sound Blaster you are looking for/need. A nice stereo DAC won't help you as you need those 3.5mm PC connections for the Kaves and will be overpriced for your needs/compared to the headphones themselves.
