Well..I have just spend the past 2 bloody hours of my time removing something which called itself "Win 7 Anti-Virus 2011", which blocked me from using internet, using orther AV software, and opening any .exe files.....fun..

My question, be it long winded..is; Is there any antivirus software that prevents this crap getting onto your PC? I currently have NOD32, and the free version of Malewarebytes.

I am dissapointed with NOD32, but Malewarebytes looks like its worth upgrading to the paid version.

What are your opinions?
Kaspersky.
BTW,you can run programs in the sand box with this.

my suggestion is to back up freaquently and just get comfortable installing windows.

I don't run any AV...it is pointless. I've had one virus many years ago and I was running an AV at the time. All AV can do is protect against old viruses that will be cleaned out in short order by server anti-virus (something I do run). I do use the blocking abilites of my Untangle router though.

New ones will not be slowed down and once in can open you back up to all the old one anyway. Viruses aren't the problem anyway...it is the malware, which is regular software for the most part and follows the same rules. Make an admin account and use a standard user account were you must type in the admin account password to install any software and alot will be stopped...not all, but alot.

Other than that...awareness. The Internet is a war zone. Keep to the trenches and you will be fine unless artilery is directly aimed at you. If you jump out of the trenches and run around willy-nilly clicking every free gift and enlarge your penis link you are likely to get blown up.

I have been using KIS since 2009 and have been really happy with it.
On top of this i have been able to get a 3-user license for roughly £15-20 so split 3 ways is quite a bargain. In this time i have not had a virus or issues but i would like to know more as i was looking into NOD32 but kept with KIS.
On my work laptop I use Avast i did try a few of the free ones but in my personal opinion Avast is far better.
