Going from a GTX570 to 6870

At 1920x1200 how myuch slower is a 6870 o/c to a gtx 570 at games like BC2? The Gtx 570 is loud and its non-reference so their is no aftermarket coolers for it. I know that a 6870 will take a artic cooling twin turbo on it, and that is dead silent and keeps the card very cool. I use vysnc as well. I don't think I have ever downgraded my gpu before this would be the first time. But I do like a quiet quiet card. And I have to admit I actually like ati drivers better I think...

That's why I will never buy EVGA.
MSI TFIII OR
ASUS DCII.
DEAD SILENT @ 900/2000.

Going from gtx 570 to 6870 is a big step down.

A 6870 will be a major step down, you should get an HD 6950 and unlock it. The HD 6950 comes in many flavors, I like the reference because you can unlock it and get a few more frames.

I consider the HD 6950 to be an upgrade from a GTX 570 since I also owned a GTX 570 HD from EVGA. Worst non-reference card EVER!!!! HD 6950 (now 6970 for me) can be had for a little under $100 less and preforms the same as/better than the 570. You can also OC it farther due to the higher quality VRAM's

As long as I can play BC2 at 1920x1200 with 2XAA 16XAF and play it smooth I will be a happy camper. I'd like to hear from people that play BC2 and use a 6870. does it play it well with those settings?

6870 is in between a 5850 and 5870. If you turn off HBAO, 2xAA and 16xAF should be okay on it.

You may want to get a GTX 560 Ti or 6950 non-ref for more performance. 6970 non-ref would be about the same performance as a 570 so that may be your other option.

its incredible that EVGA sell the reference crappy coolers at the same prices as the TFIII and DC2

and people still but the evga card...

I'm guessing you have no experience with a 500 series reference card such as the 570 or 580. What OP had might have been the GTX 570 HD which is non-reference and has the same cooler as a GTX 560Ti.

The card barely makes a whisper under 70% fanspeed and my 580 overclocked has never peaked 66C. Idles 25-28C.

How does your 5770 fair?

Also we buy EVGA for warranty and customer service. They're the only company that doesn't hassle you to RMA a product. Such as XFX who claims that someone spit on the back of their PCB and that's why it was malfunctioning.

EDIT: Just so you guys know I had a 6870 and if you want to pick on crappy reference coolers then OP you picked the perfect card.

My 6870 made horrible fan noise above 45% and would still hit over 70C with a 975MHz OC.
