He will hear it though.

At least until he gets the Arctic Twin Turbo on it.

Yeah he will see it. I had 2 of them and I can tell you there is a difference playing bfbc2 with one 6870 and a 570. Look at the averages on the chart I posted.

Also the 6870s don't overclock very well. 100mhz on the core is pretty much considered a high oc, they don't get much more than that.

I find this thread funny.

All 3 of my 570's are OC'ed to 820/1640 on .988v and they are just fine.

Perfect balance of performance, heat, noise, and price. I do wish I would have just bought 580's but they were step ups from 470's so it is what it is. My cards never go over 65C in this case. I think you're just doing it wrong like many others.

Then again I haven't spend a summer with them... but I don't expect them to go over 70C even on the hottest days.

Would the Prolimatech MK-13 fit on that GTX 570? If so I have one laying around I can sell or trade cheap. I'm not a fan of the HD 6870's due to low OC headroom and heat output.

One thing though. I use Vysnc in BC2 so my FPS never goes over 60 anyway. I think the thing I would worry about the most is how much or how low my FPS would go compared to the GTX 570 I have now.

Just played BC2 with a 6870 here are the results with FRAPS

2011-04-27 17:47:18 - BFBC2Game
Frames: 27146 - Time: 452871ms - Avg: 59.942 - Min: 56 - Max: 63

This is at 1920x1200 2xAA 16xAF Vysnc on

Tha game felt as smooth as the GTX570 did I noticed no slow downs at all...

Take a look at these results.

I have the MSI 6970 Lightning and the fans at 50 % are barely audible.

I played BC2 last night for a couple of hours. It was butter smooth all the way threw. It played just as good as the GTX570 did. If you didn't tell me a 6870 was in their I would have thought it was still my GTX570. So bottom line at what I do I notice no difference at all in FPS and settings....
It's because the 6870 is one hell of a budget card Best in the price range.

Yes 6870 is a great card, you should notice slight improvement over your old card.
