To all those that think lga 1366 is dead.

To all of you that think the lga 1366 isnt as good or dead now that this new architecture is out take a look at kingpin breaking 5.6ghz on a sr-2 mobo.

http://www.kingpincooling.com/forum/...t=1148&page=14

That right there just proves that lga 1366 is still a very strong socket and still has many benefits left to it.

3600w of PSU? I realize they didnt use all of it, but still.

I agree that 1366 isn't "dead" but I don't think your reasoning is valid. Being able to reach high clocks using sub-zero cooling doesn't justify the cpu architecture? If I could run a single-core celeron up to 4+ ghz it still wouldn't be an amazing chip.

Laughable correlation between the viability of a socket and clock speed. By this logic, P4 is still viable

Lets take gaming for instance as a example most games dont use 4 cores let alone 6 cores so a person that has a 980x for instance wouldn't see that much of a drastic increase in gaming performance going to the new architecture.

My system for instance was built only for gaming wich in all honestly is complete overkill for gaming but i know that with 2 6 core processors running 24 threads my computer is set for a very long time of course benchmarking also i build the computer.

Ive seen the new architecture compared to the lga 1366 honestly your performance gain is a 2 percent wich is marginal so to tell me that its worth the upgrade for someone that has a 990x or 980x or even my dual 5650s lol its not.

1366 is not dead, and it won't be until the next socket (2011?) is launched later this year. Even then it won't be obsolete for a good couple of years. It's just way too powerful to be on the junk pile before 2015.

That's really not what he's arguing, and if you had any sense you could see that. The logic is that if an architecture can clock high it is thus inherently viable. Which is completely false. Check here: http://hwbot.org/rankings/worldrecords You're telling me a Pentium 4 (WR #3), is viable?
