C300 normal firmware / speeds?

Thread Starter
It appears to be on firmware 0002, I tried updating to 0006 but said no drive found. Should I bother with upgrading to 0006 then 0007?

Is it common to get a new c300 with 0002 firmware?

Also are my speeds normal?

I got mine as 0002 as well. It's pretty common. You might have to switch to IDE mode in BIOS in order for firmware updater to see your drive. You should really follow the guide on Crucial website for updating.
http://www.crucial.com/support/firmware.aspx

If you have no problems with your drive, you can ignore firmware update. But it is still recommended in most cases.

P.S. There is a "Screenshot" button in AS SSD Benchmark under "File" for better looking screenshots

Your Seq read seems a bit lower than I've seen. My C300 gets around 350 seq/read. Although my firmware is 0006, is there a 0007 for C300's? I thought I checked the other day and didnt see a new firmware.

Also are you running it in AHCI mode? AHCI mode gave me a huuge jump in read speeds when I set it in the bios and then installed the AMD drivers (I have an AMD chipset) Is your mobo Sata III as well?

Yes sata III, however the sata III are marvel drivers and I heard those were bad so I moved it off them. From my understanding, I have a raid setup for 2 F3s thus all my non raid drives should be running in ahci.

Sorry for the lack of my reply.

I am raiding 2 F3's and using the c300 for OS and a few games.

I guess my question is now, is it worth it to upgrade 0002->0006 then 0006-0007?

Yes get the latest, that is all you have to do. You will see improved speeds.

why arent u running sata 6?

waste of a c300.

as for firmware, 0006 has been running fine for me, but keeping it up to date isnt a bad idea.

Which boarfd you got, jacs? If you have P67 in it's name, then it is indeed a good idea to use Intel SATA 6Gb/s ports. If you have older board with Marvell ports, stay on Intel SATA 3Gb/s. I also see you have outdated drivers. Get the latest Intel drivers here - Intel® Rapid Storage Technology.

And yes, update firmware.
