iPod touch 4 64gb -> iPod classic

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter
Would it be worth it? I only really use my iPod for music and the occasional video and tapatalk, but get extremely frustrated by the fact that it takes so much work to accomplish simple things and it ends up screwing up.

Album art doesn't sync properly, it needs a jailbreak for battery percentage, it lacks USB mass storage mode, and also apples handy restictions on everything.

Maybe even a mp3 player from someone else

Everything you mentioned will hold true for the iPod Classic as well (IIRC).

I personally use a Zune HD, and I'm pretty happy with it. I lost the iOS and all the nice games it comes with, but made some money off of the trade, since the iPod Touch is more expensive than the Zune HD. If you're just looking for a music player, Cowan devices are also pretty good too.

I'm not sure going to an iPod Classic would be much better for your issues. You'd have most of the same problems. You WOULD gain more storage space and a simpler interface but lose the apps and other such capabilities.

I really loved my ZuneHD and would recommend it. There is one for sale on OCN I saw earlier...

If you want LOTS of storage and don't really care about interface go ahead and get a classic. MASSIVE storage space and a good price. If I were you I would go to an apple story, tell them my problems and with the syncing and if lucky you will get a new one. You can then sell it on eBay and you will most likely end up with around $350 bucks to play around with.

With that money you can settle with [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Archos-500-Internet-Tablet-Android/dp/B002NEGTOC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303940621&sr=8-1"]this[/ame], or look around [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_i_0?rh=k%3AARCHOS%2Ci%3Aelectronics&keywords=ARCHOS&ie=UTF8&qid=1303940621#/ref=sr_st?keywords=ARCHOS&qid=1303940713&rh=k%3AARCHOS%2Cn%3A172282&sort=pmrank"]here[/ame]

EDIT: second link doesn't work but basically just go to MP3 players on amazon and click on bestselling

Check out the Cowon players. They make FANTASTIC portable music players. The j3 is my favorite.

Thanks for the replies smile.gif. Before i sell it, Would there be a way to make this thing work properly without having to sell it? It's jailbroken on 4.2.1 right now.

All I really want is mass storage and the album art to be fixed

I'm sure some jailbreakers have found a way to get it all working properly... even without itunes perhaps. If you are serious about selling it though, your getting into low end/older android phones territory (your diamond doesn't count tongue.gif How is it going anyway?). Honestly, if your going to consider selling, consider selling the diamond as well and have a phone swap that can do the job of a phone, and an ipod.

Agreed. It really is nice not having to carry around an mp3 player anymore. Make sure to get a phone with great battery life, though.
