So, are they saying Xbox Live is as unsecure as PSN?

No, they are saying social networks are easier targets than banks. Like Facebook, twitter, PSN etc. Could Xbox Live be as unsecure as PSN? Yea sure. Is it likely? No not really.

XBL was already hacked several years ago, just not to this extent.

Hackers are exploiting software mishaps by a hardware company.

Conversely, Microsoft, a software company, has had issues with their hardware.

Captain Obvious. Comparing enterprises with millions in net worth vs billions. To bank, millions are chump change so they get the best security.

Microsoft has ran websites and servers for a long time. I guess you should be secure if you actually build server operating systems for corporations no matter what you wanna think about Microsoft.

Honestly it's probably lack of oversight, There are a silly amount of features that get programmed in and you figure with a lot of it being outsourced it's hard to really figure out what's going on and if it's actually secure. They have enough money you would think someone would have this job. Oh maybe they did and hes totally fired by now? lol. Maybe it's cause they don't hire hackers? Gonna wish they had geohot now .

Edit: Also you would be surprised at the number of sites that are super hackable, I mean people use to use automated systems that were dependent on paypal's HTML payment code where you put the value in a hidden input field, so people would essentially go through and pay a penny. So much easy stuff out there sql injection if you have the basic knowledge there are a good bit of sites that don't protect against this. Also a lot of webmasters don't even protect databases or if they do they use MD5 hashes which is just as worthless without a salt(even with a salt but better is better). This should be really scary stuff especially when large companies are making these mistakes.
