Hi there, i'm thinking of replacing the op amps on my rather duff pc speakers because i'm bored and can't afford anything decent.

I've identified 5 op amps : rc4558p

http://www.chipcatalog.com/TI/RC4558P.htm

They're PDIP, can they be switched with DIP so long as they're dimensionally the same?

From what i can tell only the packaging material is different, so i can't see why it wouldn't be possible; nevertheless i know squat about this sort of thing.

This brings me to another question, which may be subjective but oh well. What's the best op amp i can get which will work?

Thanks.

p.s. i may need help (will need help) trying to upgrade other chips on this little board i've got so if you happen to know a lot about this sort of thing do please let me know. I've researched the chips on this board but don't know a thing about upgrading.

Chips include: tda8510j + tda8511j
hcf4053be
m51132L
And all sorts of capacitors, transistors, etc.

Thanks again.
