What to get?

I just built a new PC so I've decided to upgrade my keyboard and mouse at the same time. I'm currently using a Razer Copperhead and love it, its just finally starting to show its age through a bit of wear on the rubber coating. I was going to go with another Razer but after reading about their recent build quality I'm open to suggestions but not locking them out completely. Out of the Razers I think I like the Lachesis the most. I mostly play shooters so that is what is most important to me. I do play some rts and other games but almost never use macros or those types of things, and the fps is what I really care about. I do want buttons near my thumb (right handed), I use those a lot. I have grown accustomed to the Copperhead glow so glowing effect is nice but not necessary. Wireless isn't needed, or wanted really, this will stay chained to the desktop. Price isn't really an issue, I've had the copperhead for several years so I'm willing to spend on something that'll last me as long. Thanks for all your help.

Im a finger gripper - not palm - which the copperhead suited me for at least 2-3 years for very well until it started to unravel like yours...pads wore down, scroll wheel ruined and software was a mess.

I went with a new steelseries kinzu which is very good on price and also similar in dimensions maybe a tiny bit smaller. If you wanted something a little bigger and newer get the steelseries xai

http://steelseries.com/products/mice...ries-xai-laser

doesnt look like it will ever die and very practical esp. since you want the scrolling buttons.

Mechanically the Xai looks great, as a mouse it just looks a bit boring lol. Has anyone heard of Mionix? The G700 is pretty nice.

You should be a guinea pig for us and get the Puretrak Valor. According to everything Puretrak has told us, this will be the new top dog 5-buttom palm grip FPS mouse. If you preorder before May 10th, it'll come with a free Puretrak Talent (the consensus best cloth pad).

I play alot of FPS/RTS and have fallen in love with the G510 keyboard and the G500 mouse. When I got the keyboard I was worried that the LCD screen was going to be just a lame gimik, after using it for a few months now(6+) I love gaming with the LCD screen! all kinds of handy dandy stuff on it Befor I got this keyboard I didnt use a whole lot of macros and stuff, but now...yea..macro city lol. the main things I like about the G510 are 1. software! I love the logitec Gkey software, its realy easy to set up! 2. The backlighting can be changed to any color you like or turned off( I have brighter colors for night gaming, and ligher colors/off for daytime gaming) This is my first backlit keyboard I have liked, lighting is even and well done i think. 3. Windows button on/off switch 4. I like the feel of the keys, 10x better than other "gaming" boards I have used! The only con with the keyboard is price(got mine off the egg on sale at 89.99), and the head phone jack's dont support HD audio.

The mouse is great too. Can customize all the buttons, even the DPI up and down to do what eve you want via Setpoint software, agin its real noob friendly! The mouse feels great on B:BC2 sorry for the wall-o-text Good luck selecting new gaming gear

I've heard great things about that mouse and that it's actually better then the Imperator. I recently purchased the Lachesis my self and have problems with the z-axis and comfort, so I was thinking about sending back my lachesis to new egg for the death adder, would you recommend it? I'm right handed and would definitely like something that feels pretty comfortable when your gaming, and hopefully doesn't move a lot when I have to pick up the mouse and set it back down

And as for who ever posted this thread, I have the Lachesis my self and it's definitely a quality mouse, seems like it can last a while but there are some things you need to get past. First thing, is that it's ambidextrous, might seem like an advantage at first, but if you hold the mouse too tight think again. There are grooves on both sides of the mouse for your thumbs, but if you palm or claw grip the mouse, consequently your pinky will most likely end up in one of the grooves and sometimes I grip it a little to tight and it presses my nail into my skin and has been killing some skin. 2nd thing to get past, when you pick it up and set it back down it moves down and to the right quite a few pixels and if you do this at the wrong moment in a game... Besides that the mouse is very attractive and the LED lighting is a huge amount of fun to play around with

Personally I would recommend it. The only issue I have is that I accidentally messed up one of my thumb buttons. It works, I just have to press it at an awkward angle. That was a user caused defect though so no discredit to the deathadder. I definitely recommend this mouse :]

Stats wise it looks like every other gaming mouse? Doesn't look too bad though. I'll consider it. Still bouncing around between choices.
