AMD Athlon II x2 255 - Need(s) a WC kit

Thread Starter
I don't know anything about WC. I'm not overclocking, and I don't plan too overclock with my current setup. I have 200$ to spend, so what WC kit should I buy?

CPU idles at 38°C but spikes to 50-60°C when stressed.

PS: I probably sound crazy.

Watercooling for a dual core cpu?

Why spend $200 on watercooling instead of investing in a better CPU?

Get a $20 Hyper 212 Plus and a 1055T for $170. $10 left for some nice thermal paste.

Why spend $200 in cooling on a $70 chip? Just get a Hyper 212+ and you'll be good.

i know you said u wanted a wc kit but a cooler master v10 would really cool your system down. but its big. an the 555 i just had one an fried it because of how hot it gets. if you could i would get a new processor an a aftermarket cooler. here is some links.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-808-_-Product

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&Tpk=hyper%20n

that is if you want a processor an after market cooler.. now here is a beast of a air cooler for the price. it also cool your ram to.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-056-_-Product

hope this helped.

OMG six cores!? << I'm not being sarcastic.

Is the Hypertranspot 2000GHz, or 1000GHz with two transfer cycles/s?

EDIT:

2 recommendations for Hyper 212 plus

1 for Cooler master v10

for the future a good corsair h50/h70, but still a waste of money for an athlon x2

Actual wc is overkill for these cpu models.

The h50 on my cpu is probably overkill but keeps the temps at 2-3 above ambient at idle, never more. And only a few degrees higher at load.

My idle temp was 30 before,22-22 now.

Load was 40 ish before.Load never exceeds 27-29 with the h50.

This is in a room that stays around an ambient of 19-20.

You temps will depend on your ambient so may be hard to compare to mine. You could always try reapplying the thermal paste as well.Ive had that help when it wasn't applied correctly the first time.

I'll look into both the Cooler Master and Hyper 212.
EDIT: Just realized Cooler Master makes the Hyper 212 plus. Life's a trip.

I heard the Rasa 240 was better than the corsair h50?

My understanding is that is better as well.My point is a h50 is overkill,so the Rasa 240 or any other type of real watercooling is definately overkill.
