Cheap Fast Cable (PC to TV)

Thread Starter
Dunno where to put this, sorry. Anyways...

I want to watch movies, shows from my computer to my HD TV. I need a cable to make this possible. Anyone got some recommendations for good wires to keep my great quality? Need something high-speed, but not sure what to get, or where to look. Need help finding a good deal for goof fast cables.

Maybe, plug in my HD 5870 into my TV also? Would this be better just when I watch stuff? What cable would I need for this (recommendations, and links would be best)?

Thanks,

If it has HDMI, just get a HDMI cable from a bargain bucket and hook it up. Digital is Digital, weather you pay 100, or 1.00.

With the 5870 you can just use a normal HDMI cable. Monoprice.com for the cables.

Well it depends what kind of connections you have on the back of your TV, your best bet is to use either a DVI->HDMI adapter and go that way or possibly(depending on the connections on your 5870 a display port->HDMI. As for deals I unfortunately don't have time to look nor do I know one off the top of my head. But that should give you a place to start. Just don't go to VGA if you don't want to lose quality.

Pretty much all of the 5870 but the weird ones like yours have HDMI ports straight on the card .

My TV has HDMI connections, and I guess since my 5870 does too (haven't looked). I guess than the HDMI connection would seem the best option. Also, would I have to unplug my monitor when I want to watch from my TV instead, or is there an option to choose primary sources. I've never used multiple monitors/screens before.

You should be able to choose duplicate or extend monitor.

No need to unplug anything.
