Even still, Chrome was only a millisecond or two faster than FF 3.6 in terms of page rendering times at best. Not sure how that equates to "a hell of a lot faster".

Atta boy!
Calm down there cowboy. He was saying he can only compare it to FF3.6 because that is all he has probably used(and he is correct that chrome is miles faster than FF3.x, even without benchmarks I can tell it). He probably knows 4 is out and is much faster than 3.xx but he hasn't used it so only giving his observations on what he has experienced first hand. You sound like the crazed fanboy out of the two of you. I'm a huge FF fan btw, have used and will probably continue to use it for years to come. I just don't like chromes UI and lack of customization compared to FF. I just think you jumped him over nothing is all.

It takes less than a minute to update FF 3.6 > 4. In most cases it downloads the update all by itself. Since the browser has been out for over a month, I'm not sure how he doesn't have it to compare the two.

Miles faster?

I was on Firefox for a while but switched before FF4 came out. The computers at school haven't updated and are still on FF3.6 or IE, but I just don't like IE. And I don't just mean page loading, I mean other stuff like Javascript too (benchmarks or not, these guys went about 10x faster once i switched). Chillax man

Maybe I don't have it because I don't need multiple web browsers??? I disabled IE too. No reason to have them cluttering up my system.

Need a fasterfox for Chrome. Chrome would load so much faster if it wasn't limited by 8 connections per server and 2 persistent. Plus pipe-lining to send requests before waiting for confirmation.

Can't beat FF4 with fasterfox for speed, although it seems like cheating. I don't seem to be able to change the user-agent or block referrers on Chrome either. Flashblock doesn't stop all flash embeds, so that steals identity info as well. Notscript needs to be able to add domains to the Untrusted category so you never see them as well. Adblock Plus beta doesn't stop youtube ads either...
