Understand GPU Speeds

Thread Starter
What the heck is the difference between

- Core Speed
- Shader Speed
- Cores

Cores in a gpu? is this like a cpu core but in gpu processing?
Shader speed is speed for rendering shaders or something?

uh been so behind on video cards

any help would be nice

The shaders are the computation components of a GPU, so their speed is pretty impotant for the overall speed of the card. AMD uses the same speed for the core/shaders while Nvidia uses a much higher clock speed for the shaders which is one of the reasons they get away with using less shaders than AMD to get similar performance.
