6950 OC Help

Thread Starter
Currently I have my 6950 unlocked and have overclocked and benchmarked to find the highest overclock possible for 1.175mV. The absolute max I can get stable for the core is 940MHz and the memory 1380MHz, after this I get crashes etc.
How much should I drop it down to run games etc safely?

It's already safe. But is it completely stable? Who knows.

Run games like Crysis, Crysis 2, 3DMark06. These can tear unstable Cayman overclocks down very very quickly. If your system locks up or artifacts during one or more of these tests, the GPU is not stable. Bump up the voltage a notch or two and re-test.

What I'm saying is, is it safe to run the gpu at the brink of stability?

Sure, as long as temperature is low, and voltages aren't out of hand. But if it's on the edge of stability, you could become annoyed, dealing with "random crashes" in games.
