p67 sabertooth memory speed and speedstep

Thread Starter
So, i have recently bought a new rig, based on ASUS Sabertooth p67, I7 2600k and 8gb dominator. Dominator was purchased as Vengeance was not available.

Anyway, @stock everything works fine. Cpu is 3.4 / 3.8 turbo which is normal, but my memory is working at 1066mhz. Which is not.

When i go into bios, change the speed of ram to 1600 mhz only, the cpu isnt beeing speedstepped any more. The multiplier is locked at 38x in CPUZ. As soon as i load defaults in bios, everything goes back to normal, with ram at 1066mhz.

I have checked all the settings, read through bunch of forums and guides, even my friend has done the same thing on his p8p67 pro, and his cpu is speedstepping fine, even he increased the turbo multiplier. I have the latest bios 1502.

What goes?

My rig has similar specs, but memory is 2*4gb Vengeance, everything works fine here, speedstep, VT-x, Turbo.... Did you try XMP@1600MHz?

You are seeing sort of the same thing I am with my XMS3 memory. it runs at 1333 not 1600 and I was told it has to do with the voltage requirement for the XMS3 to run at 1600. It will do it if you force it in the BIOS but then I got the computer in a overclock condition and the DRAM is 1.65v which s what XMS3 runs at when at 1600mhz. I guess the Vengeance can run at the higher speeds with less voltage so the BIOS will let it when everything is in default settings or auto settings. The P67 is rated to 1866 but only at the correct voltage. AS said above if you RAM is XMP type then run it in that profile in the BIOS I guess. I am returning my XMS3 tomorrow and getting the Vengeance that is rated at 1600mhz at 1.5v, and mine is rated at 1333 at 1.5v.

Maybe it has something to do with the latest BIOS. My BIOS version the previous 1305.

Bit too late for returning it. My rig is exactly one month and one day old I can try selling the ram and getting vengeance, but thats just pain

The noob q of the day : Where do i find the XMP profile setting ? Is it the ram clock speed in the AI ?
