Phenom 2 x965, need a cooler that fits!

So this rig is my first time building a box from scratch and I think I did pretty damn well. The only issue I've run into so far is a new cpu cooler.

Initially, I started off with good intentions, replace that old aging box with a nice new one, nothing insane, just something more... modern. So I reached the build listed on my profile. For the amount I spent, I feel like I did well. Of course, overclocking was something that I didn't really need, I was going from a single core 3.0 P4 to a quad core 3.4 amd! So much power, why would I want more?

*sigh*, how naive.

Now I'm looking to replace my stock AM3 cooler and I've run into a big issue, not enough room in my case! So the challenge is out, help me find something that will fit.

I managed to get a Zalman 9500A in there, but it's too tall and just barely hits the side fan. Between that, not having PWM, and it being nearly twice as loud as advertised (it's noticeable from across the living room at full speed, whereas my 2 25dba and 2 24dba fans are whisper quiet), I decided I wanted to try for something better.

So, what can I get that will be better than my stock AM3 cooler, preferably uses PWM, runs under 35dba, and is shorter than 125mm?

OC.net, you have the floor.

PS, horizontal room is not a big deal, I've got tons to work with.

Something like an H50 or H70 may suit you well here. Or an Antec Kuhler 620. If you can mount a 120mm fan to the back or top of your case you will have room for one of these. There are many high end air heat sinks that will give you better performance but if space is an issue these will do fine.

Pretty tight fit in this case.

that one is small and good, pretty good for my x6.

Jesus that thing looks tiny! What kind of temps are you getting out of your x6 with it?

Very interesting suggestions from everyone that brought up the water cooling point, I'm sure my case has room for it, I'm definitely open to the idea, but would still stick with an air cooled system if I could find something that worked. If I can't, liquid it is.

Well if its in your budget, 50-75 bucks, its not really liquid so to speak. It is a closed loop that all you have to do is install and get the fans going. You never have to drain, or refill or anything, even when reinstalling, so dont let the fact that it contains water scare you.

To be honest, I would get a bigger case and get high end air cooling like the Silver Arrow, Noctua D-14 or Megahalems. If you really want nice temps.

Might pay to remove your side fan.
