single 120, whats good?

Thread Starter
Hey, I am new to water cooling but want to start.
I am looking for the best/biggest single 120mm

I found that the Coolgate is the thickest 60mm
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12...0c95s159#blank

Anyone have experience with it?

I also need to put the res on the side so the in/out are vertical of each other so I would need to have the in/out separate so the liquid must flow down the channels in order to come back out (unless they are all like that)

Thanks guys

I recommend a 240 if possible not much more expensive either as it's a more popular size.

What he said ^ Just get a 240, better performance for just a few more bucks. Unless you don't have the space for the extra size...

For just a CPU, a 120mm Rad will be fine.

So far as the best goes, it's probably this:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/21...?tl=g30c95s159

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/53...?tl=g30c95s159

But, you will need some high speed fans for it, think 2000rpm

Edit:
Right you are Defoler, I meant to link the GTX120, my mistake.

If you want a loop with just a single 120, I suggest just getting the H70.
Its not worth the trouble unless you plan to extend the system.

Also the black ice extreme is a pretty old radiator.
You can get the RX120 which will perform very well with almost any speed fan, or the GTX120 or SR1-120.

Skinnee did a review of the 360 coolgate. It looks like it beats the Thermochill PA at sub 1000 RPM speeds. I seem to recall this particular radiator's 120mm model being more expensive than others. XSPC's RX series also beats the PA sub 1000RPM, but unlike the coolgate, it stays neck and neck above 1000RPM. Looks like it's the same price, so I'd go with that.

What sort of fan speed are you looking for? Can you fit a 140mm?

Hey, did everyone forget about the Thermochill pa.120 radiator?

Thermochill also released a new series I think they are the 'T' series or whatever. They've improved heaps.

If you are just doing a CPU only loop I would recommend getting a Corsair H70 or Antec KÃœHLER H₂O 920.

If you have space I would get a 240 rad. The HWLabs SR-1 and XSPC RX series is great for lower speed fans and the HWLabs GTXtreme is great also. The GTXtreme does much better with high static pressure fans.

the self contained units don't upgrade nearly as well, and if you're going for them, you might as well get a Thermalright or Noctua air cooler.
