I think that if AMD truly want's to gain any ground, they're going to have to release something more powerful for less price. That's how Microsoft penetrated the console world, and it should work for AMD as well.

On second thought, that's kind of stupid so ignore me. Microsoft had software to recuperate losses.

Hmm, I have the money for an nice mobo and an 2600K atm. Or i could get 2 6950 2gb's and unlock them.

Maybe I'll just get 1 6950 now and save the rest for when BD comes out, and then choose what cpu to get.

I actually like how AMD will be using the GPU to offload CPU intensive applications.
2012, Trinity: Bulldozer CPU + Turks GPU, I believe.

Not by next month. Intel's releasing Pentium Sandy Bridge on May 22. Should be upgradeable to Ivy Bridge.

This was a reply to an original statement I made, where I talked about buying new PC components. I could care less about something in the future, and more than likely, the new components would be way out of my price range.

AM3 vs LGA-775 on the low-end (<$100), then AM3 definitely wins. Phenom II X4's or X6's are very nice, inexpensive upgrades to an Athlon II X2. However, I wouldn't buy AM3 for Bulldozer. Now's not really a good time to build a new AMD rig with AM3+/Bulldozer right around the corner and the budget and mainstream segments moving to FM1.

Pretty sure you'll see a much larger performance increase in gaming from upgrading your GPU's before your mobo+CPU.. The mobo+CPU should come after to alleviate bottlenecking. Of course if you do things that require more cpu power and you don't game much, then you should do it in reverse.

If BD fails then it's just another old news to me.

Comparing it to baseball;

Intel = Yankees
AMD = METS

Definitely agree with your assessment. But I'm NEVER going to buy the high-end parts ever again. Athlon II is fine for my uses.

Yes but going from my point of view:

I have Newegg financing. If I spend $500 or more, I get 0% interest financing if I pay off the full balance within 12 months. If I buy a GPU alone for ~$350 (GTX 570) I'd only be able to finance it over 6 months, which still isn't bad but I may as well have just gone for a full new build and be done with it, financing it over 12 months. A $1,000 build will cost me a measly $83 a month for 12 months. I pay more than that for damn cell phone service and that's on a contract for 24 months that I can't back out of without getting raped with early termination fees. On top of that, I can sell my current build for ~$400-$500, covering just about the first 6 months of what the new build will cost me. It's a steal. I can build a totally new system every 2-3 years at minimal costs.
