Buying a SSD, Which one?

Thread Starter
Hi,

I'm looking to buy a 120gb(ish) SSD in the near future and am not sure which one to go for. The last time I looked at SSD's the leader seemed to be intel, but now it looks like ocz and the other companies have caught up, again though I could be wrong on this.

Could anyone suggest some for me? I'm looking for the highest performance and budget under the £200 mark. In the UK aswell .

Cheers

I'd go for the Crucial M4 if I were you.

overclockers.co.uk... they are good. stay away from novatech currys dixons for ssd's tey are just way over priced... if you can get an intel drive that would be brilliant

this one as a single is alright
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...14&subcat=1427

or buy 2 of these and raid them in raid 0

Thanks guys,

Looking at that intel, would it not be slower than the crucial m4? Also i see the crucial is 6gb/s, would that run fine with my rig? or would it need to be backwards compatible and therefore lose its performance boost over the intel?

this was the m4 I was looking at

I don't believe your motherboard supports SATA 3.
The Crucial M4 is backwards compatible with SATA 2 and would still end up faster than the Intel drive.

It's a toss up between the C300 and the Vertex 3.

C300 128GB:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=HD-006-CR

Vertex 3 120GB:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=HD-071-OC

The Vertex 3 should be up to twice as fast.

But personally, if I were you, I'd try to get the 256GB C300. I got mine for 360$ off eBay.

That's only 30$ more and you'd get Vertex 3 120GB performance with twice the capacity.
