Asus P8P67 Pro - Bent Pin??

Hi guys,

Delivery man has just now dropped off my new kit and looks like on opening the mobo there is a fault... A single pin is kind of bent looking!!

Bend it back, or contact Asus ASAP.

They would deny an rma if they got back from you with a bent pin.

Did it have the cover installed?

Cover was on I took it off and there it was a bent pin. On phone with OCUK and they wont do anything.

Fortunately it looks easily fixable, the smallest mech pencil you can find and a little manipulation would straighten it right up.

But i would still contact Asus and see what they recommend.

If it makes you feel any better I got my antistatic glove caught on my asus p8p67 mobo and bent 3 of the pins, I didnt want to straighten them for fear of further damage so continued anyway and the system runs fine. I'd imagine this may not be advisable though.

Phone Asus after OCUK blew me off and was told I need to contact them via this site... http://vip.asus.com/eservice/techserv.aspx

Can you not phone them for support?
I phoned them and had an RMA approved within 10 mins.

And is this a B3 board?

this might work in some cases. But I wouldn't risk it if it happened to me (unless I got denied an RMA)

Yep brand new B3 purchased yesterday from OCUK got delivered just before posting this thread.

I did phone and the UK tech number they dont handle motherboards over the phone they said. So gave me that web link to get help.

It's a single pin and it not far from it's original place but I would rather not try and fix it myself or try and run the CPU with the socket having a fault even if it's minor.

It's bloody typical that I get something that't not covered under normal warranty.

And damn OCUK for just shurgging shoulders and saying sorry mate nothing we can do.

Sorry for a new post so soon after... I decided to ring Consumer Rights UK for some advice and was told regardless of the type of fault the motherboard had OCUK could not refuse to help me like they did. The very nice lady I spoke to gave me lots of details and told me to send them this letter/email.

On 26th April I bought an Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard from you for £123.32 which has arrived damaged.

The problem is one bent pin in the CPU socket of the motherboard, this was apparent upon removing the CPU socket cover, I called your support team immediately and was told you would not RMA the board due to the type of fault.

The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) states that when a consumer buys goods from a trader they must be: as described; of a satisfactory quality; and fit for any purpose made known at the time of sale to the seller.

This legislation also states that the seller, not the manufacturer, is legally obliged to sort out a problem if the goods do not meet these requirements.

The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) says: if goods break within the first six months after purchase then there is a presumption the goods were faulty when sold.

My goods are not fit for purpose and I wish to claim a replacement or refund of my goods under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 as amended.


Please respond to my complaint within 14 working days from receipt of this letter.

I also email Asus not the above letter but a letter stating OCUK had dismissed me over the phone when reporting the DOA motherboard due to damaged pins.

So fingers crossed something will happen!! Just got to wait but it will take longer than normal now as tomorrow is a Bank Holiday, Royal Wedding and all and so is Monday.

FINGERS CROSSED TOES CROSSED!!
