Asus P8P67 Pro - Bent Pin?? - Page 2

A buddy of mine had an Asus P8P67 Pro with a bent pin out of the box too. He got screwed over and they basically charged him to repair it, something ridiculous like $75. If this trend continues, we might have to start doing unboxing videos just to prove items arrive in a defective condition.

It is shocking that these make it out in to the public in this condition, there is a cover on the pins for a reason. I can only assume as it's only one pin that's bent it was dont when they put the socket cover on.

I just hope I won't have to fork out more money and wasted time waiting for a fix. It should be send back get a replacement asap!!

So we will see what happens now I have got some consumer rights jargon on my side lol

You can easily straighten the pin. I repaired mine that had 3 pins bent over with a dental pick. You just have to be careful and use a bright light so you can see it clearly

My sausage fingers and delicate tiny ickle pins dont mix lol... I would like to get a replacement and only do the bending it back as a last resort as my luck would be bending it back and it snapping off!!

Which would be worse if I had not tried to get a replacement board as it would then be user fault and I would probs not get anywhere... Atleast this was the law is on my side as it arrived in an unsatisfactory state not fit for use.

guys, i agree with you completely, this is unacceptable, i buy all my stuff from OCUK in the past 12 months i have dropped more than 3k with them.

They cost more usually but you get quality of service and support.

Based on this thread, im boycotting OCUK....

I really cant believe them shrugging their shoulders. NOT COOL.

Ass for the bent pin im an experienced pin straightened, im an IT tech by trade.

nothing high ranking , nothing corporate, just a IT repair company...

have had several customers bring me chips in the past with bent pins, while i know its different, i would have a go myself with a dental pick or some tiny screwdrivers and tooth picks... because im impatient....

RMA a brand new board..... MONKEYS !!!!! BEING LIKE THAT TO YOU....

Anything i can do let me know.

UNACCEPTABLE ! OCUK NOW SUCK !

P.S you can bend pins on those boards about 10 times before they become really weak.

Thanks for the response, I work in IT too but my day to day stuff is software support... I tend to always use OCUK, this time I should have gone with Scan although Scan's range of memory was limited to Corsair only but I guess I could have bought it at OCUK. Hindsight its great!!

Gonna test that theory lol

Well if worse comes to worse I will get a pin and see what I can do, I dont have a magnifiying glass handy but have asked partner to bring one home so I can get a close look at how it's bent as from my poor eye sight with glasses it looks like it's just turned in the wrong direction rather than bent but I cant be sure.

Still best to wait and see where I get with Asus and OCUK... Would prefer a new board with nowt wrong!!
