What does Apple have? ARM? Samsung, which has been pissed off by design patent "infringements"?
That is very true. But for now i'll hold onto apple until something better comes along. like the new sony psp phone that's being developed

Come on, no.

When I had my iphone, I jailbroke it and it was fun for 5 minutes. In all honesty, I use my phone to talk, check email, and once in awhile look at youtube. iPhone was super easy to use when I wanted to listen to music.

Everytime there was an update for my iphone, it made my phone better. Getting Froyo last week for my fasincate actually dropped my battery time from 5-6 hours, to 3-4 hours. lol.
Samsung has bad rep in terms of software, so its implementation of Android is inferior to those of HTC and Motorola. HTC's Sense UI is the best stock overlay out there, and is perfectly usable without root.

this

Except iPhone 5 will not be anywhere near a real "revamp" as not much will change, so go HTC w/ android. It will make you happy long time

Had the Droid Eris myself(basically a verizon version of the Hero) so I know what you mean. Upgraded to the Droid after a couple weeks and was far happier. Go with a high end android phone and I promise you will have a much better experience than with the crappy Hero. Android is the way to go. It's just that the low end devices(like the hero) run it like crap.

Dont give up so easily, you were on the right path
And think about the system not the phone? is it really less useful for you than that other thing

Its like saying that the stereo(which is harman kardon=the best) in a car that did not ride properly is bad

you problem was samsung: plastic crap
who buys a mobile phone that costs 750$ but is made out of plastic entirely
thats the gs2 everyone

You should get an android phone. I don't know about Android's, but I think if you mess up jailbreaking/unlocking your iPhone4, your phone will get bricked. (that's what my roommate says) Atleast with an Android phone you can Root it and it becomes so much better. A rooted Android phone > a Jailbroken/Unlocked iPhone.

I have an iPhone 4 and I love it; it's nice and sleek, lots of apps, the OS runs smoothly and whatever. Some people prefer Android; I personally like the Galaxy S, the screen is bigger than the iPhone and comparable in quality, but the OS runs kinda choppy in comparison to iOS.

When it comes to phones, I like the way Apple's OSs work, because you don't need to do a WHOLE lot on it, but it's always a plus to look nice and run smoothly. Only downside for me is Steve Jobs' refusal to adopt Swype.

You can't mess up jailbreaking, its impossible. The average user will not benefit from rooting. Verizon and AT&T are cracking down on tethering which is the 2nd main reason of rooting (flashing roms is the 1st). The average Android will not flash a new rom on their new android device either. iPhone 3Gs and the iPhone 4 are 2 extremely fast devices and even with their inferior hardware they are respectable in the phone world. You seriously can not go wrong with jailbroken iPhone. It basically levels the playing field with Android. The only new android phone that really impresses me is T-mobile's G2x.

I just got a HTC Thunderbolt and I really like it. It was an upgrade from the moto droid that I got like 3 weeks after it came out and it was the first phone that I did not want to throw away after 2 months. I have played with apples iphone and own the ipod touch, It really comes down to what you want, but if you are going to compare the phones then compare them to an android of equal value, not the ones you get for free or 20 bucks, these are the low end phones, compare them to the android phones that cost the same or have the same specs. its like comparing a bmw m3 and a honda civic si.
