Iphone 4? or Android? - Page 9

Definitely Android imo. It doesn't have as many apps as iPhone at the moment, but since it open source I'm pretty sure it's going to exceed it at some point. Android is predicted to be number 1 mobile platform by 2015 by some analysts. Smooth integration with all Google services is another bonus. Also it offers much greater customization than iPhone. For a phone I'd get Galaxy S 2.

Its like saying that the stereo(which is harman kardon=the best) in a car that did not ride properly is bad

you problem was samsung: plastic crap
who buys a mobile phone that costs 750$ but is made out of plastic entirely
thats the gs2 everyone
Galaxy S (Fascinate) only cost me about $150.

When it comes to phones, I like the way Apple's OSs work, because you don't need to do a WHOLE lot on it, but it's always a plus to look nice and run smoothly. Only downside for me is Steve Jobs' refusal to adopt Swype.
See, I agree with him, Galaxy S is pretty as hell, (shallow reason why I went with that one for my first android phone) but iPhone just worked for me, sorry.

what can your phone do? show beautiful square icons smooth zooming? get the fck outta here
100 more operations? I only wanted 3 things to work, lol, Voice, SMS, and 3G.

No phone should run choppy when just making a phone call or sending an sms. I swear to god, this phone would send SMS to random people. A text that said "i love you" that I sent to my wife a few days prior, ended up going to my brother.. I've never received so much crap from a phone..

Trust me, this has happened to a lot of Fascinate owners.

Which did happen (leak) and now the Droid X unofficially has gingerbread. Motorola has defeated the purpose of Android. For most users who buy Droid X's, they really don't care about rooting or flashing roms.
But the DROID X has been rooted and you CAN flash custom ROMs to it...

Z4Root and Bootstrapper for DROID X is all you need. I have both and while I don't use a custom ROM (I've been happy with a themed 2.2), I've used them to use programs like Titanium Backup Pro, DroidWall, and Bootstrapper to create Nandroid backups. Bootstrapper can also install custom ROMs though.

I would say the Nexus or the Galaxy is probaly the best at root/roms. Its got the most dev support and unlocked bootloaders. Unlike most of HTC's lineup.

I trust you've never turned on iPhone autocorrect?

As for Android, it's a great platform; the problem is it's so customizable that handset manufacturers and carriers just can't resist throwing a bunch of crap on top of it. This is where most people's problems come from, ironically enough. Of course, for most phones, fixing that is just a root away...

Not like the Droid Incredible can. Droid Incredible does circle around the Droid X when it comes to rom support. Cyanogenmod are amazing roms and will never happen on the Droid X until Motorola unlocks the bootloader. I have a Droid X and I had an Incredible.

If you're someone decent with technology and love to have control over your phone, get android.

If you want a simplified smartphone phone that just works out of the box get the iphone 4.

I'm running an HTC Desire with Oxygen rom and hboot. Flawless, just flawless

Also, I have been stung before when I got a HTC Hero and it's a slow piece of crap.

So what would you get? Iphone 4 or an Android phone? What is your reasoning? What kind of android phone would you get?
I wouldn't use the HTC Hero as a comparison, it sucks. I do own it and I really wanted to smash it against the wall. After messing around with a friends iPhone 4 I though I would never buy an HTC/Android phone again because the iPhone 4 was so much smoother/faster than the Hero.

Since Sprint doesn't have the iPhone 4 I went out and got the Evo Shift and I'm amazed. It is so much better than the Hero it's unbelievable and I would not take an iPhone 4 over it. You could always walk into a phone store, Best Buy, etc. and take a look at the android phones before choosing.
