since the layoffs will "mainly impact employees outside of Japan" it basically means a bunch of Chinese and Mexican laborers will lose their jobs. Panasonic seems to have approximately 1000 jobs in their US headquarters... not a huge number really.

This isn't going to impact most of the people on this message board unless they happen to own a mutual fund that owns Panasonic... they might see a stock price increase.

Sympathies to those who got fired. Wonder how much the CEOs got in bonuses for this?
Japanese government has been intervening since the dawn of time, for both, appreciation and deprecation. They pump trillions of YEN into the market. Also, recent G7 meeting has confirmed combined intervention by nations, if required.

YEN upside is limited.

Sick, The economy is going to hell and all these large corporations are selling out and laying more people off. And they wonder why the economy isn't doing that great.

Wonder why? Hmm... If people don't make money they cant spend money.... NAW that cant be it.

CEO BONUSES INCREASE WOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Well panosonic, I don't buy your products anyway but now I will take extra care to avoid them. This includes SANYO (mostly owned by panasonic)

Absolutely horrible, I can't imagine what it's like getting laid off when you have a family to take care of.
