Either of those will yield a decrease in load temps over the Freezer 7, and at a nice price point.

I only have 4GB of RAM, so I set the ram to high, and the threads to 8. I just did 5 runs, usually i'll do more if i'm testing for stability. At 1.232 V and 3.6Ghz my CPU got up to 70C in realtemp. The five runs took about 7 minutes, so it's not very long for prime95, but that only got up to 64C on the hottest core.

So yeah, if reseating doesn't help, I would suggest a different HSF. Of the 2 you posted, I'm partial to the Scythe, probably because it's the one I'm using. It's pretty descent, really nice for the $$, I'm going to order some shin-etsu, and reseat to see if I can get lower temps. The one thing with it, is it's huge, and kind of a pain to mount if your case doesn't have a hole in the motherboard bracket.

yeah I'm getting mid 80's with those settings....think it's time for a new HSF if reseating doesn't work...I heard the Scythe was huge and was a little worried as my RAM is kind of close to my CPU...most likely go for the Hyper 212. Need to do a little more research.

I think I'm just going to replace the HSF anyway, since it seems it's a cheaper one:

seems this is the best price I can find for the CM:

Think I'm going to bite on it.

Microcenter has the hyper212+ for 23 after rebate if you have one nearby, plus you won't have to wait for shipping.
